Exhibition Theme Reflection

An Inquiry into the Nature of the Self- What we did on this part of the exhibition  theme is that we chose songs about what it means to be who you are and how you can stand up for yourself. We listened to the songs and discussed why it means to be who you are. We also jotted some notes about each song for each person about what the song was about. Some examples were like Born This Way by Lady Gaga and Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson.

Beliefs and Values- What we did on this part of the Exhibition theme is that we got a beliefs and values handout. Each of our tables had got assigned some certain beliefs and values. Then we stated the definition and drew a picture on each of them. After we did that assignment, we then voted on our top beliefs and values. We presented a specific belief and value for each group. We all got videotaped and were posted on the Exhibition 2011 blog.

Physical, Mental, Social, and Spiritual Health- What we did on this part of the Exhibition theme is that each table got assigned a type of health. After we discussed ideas and defined it, we then presented the Physical, Mental, Social, and Spiritual Health. As we presented, Mrs. Hicks wrote what each of them meant and posted them on the 2011 Exhibition Blog.

Human Relationships Including Families, Friends, and Communities- What we did on this part of the Exhibition theme is that we got an assignment. What the assignment was that we had to gather pictures and post them on a digital presentation tool. Then we had to write what you thought friends, a family, and a community is. Mrs. Hicks posted the assignments on the 2011 Exhibition Blog.

Rights and Responsibilities- What we did on this part of the Exhibition theme is that we discussed what rights and responsibilities. Then Mrs. Hicks gave us an assignment of doing a t-chart and write down examples of rights and responsibilities.

What it Means to be Human- What we did on this part of the Exhibition theme is that we discussed what it means to be human. Mrs. Hicks told us that we had to come up with 3 issues about what we are interested in and who we are as human beings. Mrs. Hicks gave us a lecture about if the issues show who you are and what your personality is.

Conclusion- I thought exhibition was just about finding an issue in the world and try to help. But, I now know that it is way different. Exhibition is about who you are as a person and your beliefs and values. We dissected the whole exhibition theme to get a better understanding about it. I learned that exhibition tells us who we are.
